Fans were in awe when they got to know about the Pitcher and the Minor League Players in the ChicagoCubs. The result was announced on Tuesday.
Now, people are aware that the farm systems of the Chicago Cubs have never been the same as it was 2-3 years back. A major part of the reason for this change is how the top prospects of the game now have joined with the big league teams.
The team is already filled up with young exciting prospects already, with Albert Alzolay as the starting pitcher and Miguel Amaya as the catcher. Let’s find out more insights about the team and the updates.
Who got the Pitcher and Minor League Player rewards?
It was a pleasant Tuesday and the Chicago Cubs were gearing up for the announcements. They named their first baseman Jared Young and the pitcher player Matt Swarmer as the Minor League Player and the pitcher of the year respectively. Here’s Some Minor League Guide from Players.
Now, probably you might have the question – like who are these players!
Jared Young, the Minor League Player
He has played a total combination of 120 games of the Single-A category in the year 2018 between South Bend and Myrtle Beach. He attended the Old Dominion before he was selected for the 15th round of the 2017 draft.
With a combined total of 447 at-bats, Young has delivered 16 home runs and RBI of 76 score. He got a respectable OPS of 0.842 as well.
Matt Swarmer, the Pitcher
Swarmer is a 24-years old player, who pitched for the Myrtle Beach game before the completion of the season in the Double-A set Tennessee. He was drafted in the 19th round from the Kutztown University in Pennsylvania.
Just like Young, even the Swarmer’s scores and points increased after he was promoted as the Minor League Player!
Another surprising point that we saw is that, both the players have not been included in the Cub’s Top 30 Prospect List. This simply shows that the Prospect List is not the ultimate list, and the players got to have unique skills and extraordinary gaming background to make up to the Pitcher or the Minor League Player.
